HEIDELBERG. –  The Heidelberg SAPS recently made efforts to engage homeless people housed at Lesedi Community Centre through a  crime awareness campaign.

The campaign was carried out by the Social Crime Prevention and CPF Coordinator Captain Mzwandile Blose together with  Domestic Violence and Victim Friendly Facility (VFF) Coordinator Constable  Nosiphiwo Makinana.

Blose says, “The police saw it as important that they engage the community on domestic violence related matters, parenting, substance and drug abuse and reporting of criminal activities to the police.”

During the campaign, members further sensitized people on the  importance of wearing face masks in public areas, the seriousness of washing hands and keeping social distance to limit the transmission of Covid-19.

Blose said that the campaign was a success with members of the community receiving the information shared on the day well.
