Insulting Danny Jordaan won’t win Sandile Zungu the SAFA elections

SEDIBENG.- Ugly confrontations and allegations have emerged ahead of the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) presidential election.
This much-publicised election is scheduled to take place this weekend. SAFA President Danny Jordaan and AmaZulu boss Sandile Zungu will go head-to-head in the poll for the presidential position.
Zungu cannot be underestimated!
SAFA regions hold the power to choose between the two candidates, with Danny Jordaan seeming to be a favourite to return to the position.
However, Zungu cannot be underestimated, as some regions and individuals are throwing their weight behind him.
There has been a lot of alleged foul play in Zungu’s camp, with serious allegations against Danny Jordaan. As if this is not enough, some regions went as far as to open a fraud case against Jordaan, accusing him of corruption.
His silence is too LOUD!
Despite all these allegations, Jordaan remains silent. His silence is too LOUD to say the least.
It is a matter of playing the man, not the ball.
The truth is, in politics and sport, it is common practice to rubbish each other or make allegations ahead of any elections.
Zakes’ Sports Corner will not be drawn into this and speculate about who should be SAFA’s president. Our football deserves better than these insults we hear on social media platforms.
It doesn’t matter who becomes SAFA president, as long as whoever comes brings change and takes this troublesome organisation to the next level.

Jordaan has played his part, and he doesn’t deserve all the insults. Jordaan didn’t elect himself to be SAFA president.
He was elected by SAFA regions, and if they are not happy with him – it is simple: vote him out of power. Zakes’ Sports Corner’s advice to Sandile Zungu’s camp is that you don’t play the man – play the ball.
The sad reality is that insulting Jordaan won’t win Zungu’s votes! It is barbaric behaviour to resort to insults and allegations to make excuses in case you lose the election.
