High number of arrests made during SAPS’ operation

SEDIBENG.- The recent South African Police Services’ (SAPS) National Intervention Operation to reduce crime in the country recently produced positive results in Sedibeng.
The operation called ‘Kopano’ focused on theft of motor vehicles, stock theft and proliferation of firearms.
Police said that it was a relay operation amongst the provinces. It resumed on a Monday in Kwa-Zulu Natal and went to Gauteng on the N3 Heidelberg highway in the Sedibeng District. In Sedibeng, the operation continued for the entire week with roadblocks and VCP’s (Vehicle Check Point).
Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Nombulelo Mohlakoana said that the operation was also combined with Gauteng’s operation ‘O Kae Molao’ resulting in a high number of arrest and confiscations as well as other crimes brought to book such as undocumented persons, employers of undocumented persons.
“Road traffic fines were also issued, drunk driving arrests were made, stolen vehicle recovered, stolen properties recovered, and illicit goods confiscated.”
