PAC welcomes recommendations by IEC

"Current regulations do not make for possible campaigning of political parties and candidates contesting to be elected."

SEDIBENG. – The Secretary General of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC), Apa Pooe, recently said that his party welcomes with open arms the recommendation made by Justice Dikgang Moseneke to the Electoral Commission (IEC). Moseneke recommends that the local government elections scheduled for 27 October 2021 be postponed to February 2022. Speaking yesterday to Sedibeng Ster, Pooe said it would not be possible to hold free and fair elections while the country is still under the COVID-19 epidemic and experiencing the third wave of this virus. “Current regulations do not make for possible campaigning of political parties and candidates contesting to be elected. The PAC supports the postponement of elections cognisant of the fact that communities are fed-up by current public representatives, who are not responsive, accountable and do not provide much needed basic services.”
