Police in Vereeniging clamp down on drug dealers

Police arrested two suspects who were found in possession of drugs worth R9000 in two separate incidents on Thursday.

VEREENIGING. –  The police in Vereeniging are working tirelessly to eradicate crime in the area, leaving no stone unturned.

Police arrested two suspects who were found in possession of drugs worth R9000 in two separate incidents on Thursday.

The first suspects was arrested during a stop and search in Unitas Park.

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda says, “Police were strategically deployed  when they came across a suspect in Phil Mostert Street who was found to be in possession of dagga with a street value of R2500.

A man was arrested after he was found in possession of Dagga Worth R2500.

“The second suspect, an African male foreign national was arrested by police on patrol after being found in possession of fifteen zip logs of crystal meth and fifteen zip logs of CAT with a street value of R6500.

“Both the suspects were arrested and detained at the Vereeniging SAPS cells. The suspects are due to make an appearance at the Vereeniging Magistrate Court for dealing in drugs.”

Vereeniging SAPS acting station commander Colonel Fanie Radebe applauded all members for an excellent job.

“Vereeniging is not a play ground for law breakers. We are going to make sure that during this Women’s month, women and children are protected from drug peddlers. We want  women and children to feel safe and be safe at all times,“ Radebe concludes.
