Search operations for six-year-old Khomanani expected to resume this morning

Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Mayor Gift Moerane said that they were now working together with the City of Johannesburg to ensure that Khomanani is found and that the family gets the closure they deserve.

EMFULENI. – A search operation for six-year-old Khomanani Mawa is expected to resume this morning.

This is after yesterday’s operation in Evaton failed to produce desired results. However, officials said that they were making progress.

Khomanani fell into an open manhole on Sunday while playing with friends just a few meters from his home in Orange Farm.

Family Spokesperson Eric Chauke said that as a family they were highly disturbed and hurt by the incident.

Chauke said that Johannesburg Water had searched manholes in Orange Farm and the child was not found.

“The search has expanded to Evaton Central and they re now searching in blocked manholes.”

“We just want to find our boy’s body so that we can find closure. That’s all we want as a family”

Chauke said the parents of the boy were not coping.

Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Mayor Gift Moerane said that they were now working together with the City of Johannesburg to ensure that Khomanani is found and that the family gets the closure they deserve.
