Mayor Baloyi receives his first vaccination

"If you are an adult with an underlying medical condition or illness, you have a greater risk of severe COVID-19 and should get the vaccine to protect you."

MIDVAAL.- The Executive Mayor of Midvaal Local Municipality, Alder Bongani Baloyi, received his first vaccination at the Lakeside community hall yesterday.

“The process was so quickly and pleasant thanks to the staff”, said the executive Mayor, Bongani Baloyi.

The mayor would also want to encourage all qualifying residents to register to vaccinate. Team Midvaal will always be ready to assist all qualifying residents to get their vaccination. Despite the significant progress which dropped active cases in the recent past, the municipality continues with ward-based outreach programmes and encourage all qualifying resident to register and vaccinate.

Here are the facts about COVID-19 vaccines:

  • COVID-19 vaccines are tested rigorously and are proven to be safe and effective.
  • If you are an adult with an underlying medical condition or illness, you have a greater risk of severe COVID-19 and should get the vaccine to protect you.
  • It gives protection against severe COVID-19 and COVID-19 related death.
  • It cannot give you COVID-19 as it does not contain any live virus.
  • It cannot change your DNA.

Although there is a weekly decline in active Covid-19 cases people should remain vigilant and adhere to the regulations.
