Suspect killed with own Knobkerrie

"As they searched further, a sheep and dog were found killed behind the house."

ZAMDELA. – The police are investigating two cases of murder and attempted murder that happened at Weltenvreden Farm, R57, Zamdela Sasolburg recently.

It is said that the incident happened at the time the owner of the farm and his wife arrived home on 27 September around 8:30. As they entered through the garage door, the wife was looking for the dogs and noticed that one  dog was in its kennel while the other dog and sheep were killed behind the house. Later she heard her husband shouting.

On her way to look what was happening, she come across their tenant who was allegedly attacking her husband with a knobkerrie. At that time the attacker was on top of her husband. She managed managed to grab the weapon from the attacker and hit him, in doing so managing to save her husband.

The suspect was fatally injured and died on the scene while the husband was taken to hospital.

 On the crime scene the deceased was also found to have been carrying a spade, knobkerrie and a knife with blood on it. As they searched further, a sheep and dog were found killed behind the house.

Circumstances regarding the attack forms part of police investigations.
