Two injured in truck and car collision

VEREENIGING.- Yesterday at 19:42 Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the corners of Houtkop Road and the R82 in Vereeniging.

Reports indicate that a car and truck were involved in a collision and on the scene was the SAPS, CPF, and Vereeniging Fire and Rescue Services. Medics assessed the scene and found that the driver, an adult male, had sustained minor injuries. The passenger, an adult female, had sustained serious injuries and was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner.

Fire and rescue services had to use hydraulic tools to free the seriously injured woman from the vehicle. Once stabilised, the female patient was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a specialist facility.

The driver was transported by private ambulance to hospital for assessment.
