For the past ten years elections have been the biggest problem in football. This is because some individuals think that they can run football even though they are not passionate about this beautiful game.
Football is all about passion regardless of your knowledge for this sport, if you’re not passionate about football don’t come near it. This sport needs people who sacrifice their time and energy to get involved. It is not about money or power, but it is about love and passion!
The Emfuleni Local Football Association’s Special Congress was scheduled to take place over the weekend, but it was postponed under some technicalities. Like has always been the case for all these years, people fight for power to run football even though they have nothing to do with football. Look, their ambition is only to see themselves working at Safa national office. It is not as if they are interested in the development of football in this region. They want to use football as a ticket to serve at Safa national office even though they know they have little interest in what is going on in the development of our football in Sedibeng.
For how long will people use football as a steppingstone to achieve their personal success? This has been a problem for years now where some individuals would be only active in football when it is elections time. People should not be interested in football when it is elections time or when elections are around the corner.
For too long now some individuals have taken us for granted, especially those who don’t even have interest in the development of football in this region. TOUCHLINE will say this once again, people from outside of Sedibeng think they can come here and dictate terms to us.
How so?
They know nothing about the history of this region, but they think they can run our football. We have people in this region who are more than capable to run our football. This has never been the case during the time of Ntate George Thabe and Dr Molefi Oliphant. No one would come from outside and want to run of our football.
This is because the current generation of administrators allow outside people to mess our football. But having said this, there are those from outside with good intentions to improve our football. For example, where they come from, football is dead.
If TOUCHLINE may ask, why do they think they can run our football while where they come from the same sport is dead and not active.
TOUCHLINE’s plea to those who came in this region for power is that they must leave our football to Sedibeng people. For those who come from outside and are here to improve our football, ladies and gentlemen you are more than welcome. Your contribution in the development of football in this region would not go unnoticed!
