SEDIBENG.- Jomo Cosmos is set to return to their once happy hunting ground, the Vaal University Of Technology (VUT)’s Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark.

Sedibeng Ster Sport has learned that the team was supposed to play their GladAfrica Championship match against Hungry Lions at the venue over the weekend. The Isak Steyl Stadium main field was prepared for this game and some dressing rooms were also upgraded following a recent Premier Soccer League (PSL) assessment.

Sedibeng Ster Sport has learned that PSL was only awaiting an approval letter from the local municipality. To make it interesting, Jomo Cosmos has been playing friendly matches against local teams at Isak Steyl Stadium since last week. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, a source who is close to this development said Cosmos was supposed to play their first game at the venue against Hungry Lions but due to paper work not having been completed, the game didn’t take place at the venue. PSL and Cosmos officials were here to inspect the stadium’s conditions and some of the improvements that need to be made.

“Cosmos were told to fix the dressing rooms’ toilets and they fixed them. But apparently the paper work from the municipality was an outstanding matter for PSL to give Cosmos a go ahead to use the venue. Look, everything was done including cutting the fields,” said the source. The security personnel at the gate also confirmed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that they were told that Jomo Cosmos would be playing at the venue on Saturday.
