Motor vehicle collision leaves one dead, another injured

POTCHEFSTROOM.- A man was killed and a woman injured when a bakkie and a small van collided on the R53 outside Potchefstroom.

On Monday afternoon ER24 and other services found a bakkie and van in the middle of the road.

ER24 reports that the bakkie driver and the female passenger from the van were walking around the scene while a man was lying in the van’s driver’s seat.
“Medics assessed the patients and found that the van driver, a man in his 60s, was in a critical condition while the passenger, a woman in her 50s, had sustained minor injuries. The driver of the bakkie, fortunately, escaped injury.”
Medics extricated the man, treated him and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Shortly after, the man’s vital signs rapidly diminished. CPR and further advanced life support were initiated to revive the patient. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The woman was treated for her injuries and, after that, transported to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital for further care.”
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
