Taxi driver gunned down in Orange Farm

Police in Orange Farm are investigating the murder of a taxi driver who was shot and killed in what is believed to be a taxi violence incident.

ORANGE FARM. – The incident happened on Monday evening at Extension 2.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi reports that police were summoned to the scene by a taxi owner who reported that his driver had been shot.

“On arrival at the scene, police found an African male lying on the ground next to the new taxi compound, not far away from the taxi rank”

It is alleged  that the deceased  had just left the taxi compound when he was ambushed by three unknown suspects who shot at him.

The three are said to have left the scene after searching the deceased.

Motsapi states that the deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“A case docket of murder has been registered and opened for further investigation. No suspect has been arrested at the stage.”
