DE DEUR. – Being the eldest citizen in De Deur Ward 21, Kwenani was joined by family, friends, members of the church and the community at large in celebrating her life.
Kwenani was described as a pillar of her family who thanked her for raising them and making a huge contribution to their lives. She is also regarded as a noble woman by those who attend church with her. Amelia Lesitha said that Kwenani understood the assignment when she came on earth and lived her life according to the will of God.
“We have always wanted to get an opportunity to celebrate your life. You have been a very strong woman and you have taught us that respect should always come first. You are very fortunate because even your grandkids will grow up knowing this valuable lesson in life.”
Younger sister Elisa Kgupane (89) described her sister as a humble person who is down to earth. “Growing up, our parents taught us to respect everyone, even people that are not related to us.
“I think this is why we have gotten so many bonus years. We have maintained the values that were instilled in us by our parents.”
Asked about the secret to longevity, Kwenani said it was a healthy lifestyle and humility that preserved her. “I’m grateful to God for having given me so many years on earth. I’m also thankful to family and everyone for making this day possible.”
