VEREENIGING.- Solly Mkhabela was re-elected unopposed as the Safa Sedibeng President during the regional election that took place at Vaal Teknorama in Vereeniging over the weekend.
This means that Mkhabela will once again be on the hot seat for the next four years. Mokhabela was nominated by Midvaal Local Football Association and two other associations, the Lesedi and Emfuleni Local Football Associations. Mariana Kruger was elected the 2nd Deputy President and Velaphi Motsepe as the 3rd Deputy President while Nomvula De Jesus was elected as the Treasure. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Safa Sedibeng Regional Executive Officer, Beauty Molise said the elections went well despite the circumstance. Asked why the media was not to the elections, Molise said that the elections were supposed to take place in June but Safa national offices brought the deadline forward.
“Look, we were supposed to hold our elections in June but we received a directive from Safa national office that all the regions must hold their elections on 31 May. We were pressed up because we were running out of time. But I’m happy that everything went as planned and thanks to our local associations for making sure that this happened,” said Molise.
Molise told Sedibeng Ster Sport that new members were also accepted, namely the South Africa Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLFA) in Sedibeng and Sedibeng Regional Master Football Association.
Molise was positive that after everyone settles into their positions, they will hit the ground running to bring changes as far the development of football is concern in Sedibeng Region.
