COP swimming pool back in operation

COVID forced many sporting facilities to either be closed or neglected. 

VANDERBIJLPARK.-  The Cecil Oldridge Park (COP) swimming pool was one of the facilities that was affected by COVID and it was closed for almost two years.


The good news for Sedibeng community is that the municipality has revived this facility. For the past two weeks Emfuleni Local Municipality Sports aand Recreation workers were busy restoring this swimming pool. The swimming pool was put on test when a few kids were invited to swim in it, especially those who use the CEO facilities for training.

It was excitement all over for the kids, using the facilities for the first time after two years. This means, this festive holidays the Sedibeng community is going to have a joyful festive seasons. One of the ELM employees, Itumeleng Monamane, is the man behind this revival of CEO facilities.  He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that there is still lot of work to be done for this swimming pool to be ‘back to its best’.


“I’m not the one who is supposed to talk to the media because there is a communication department to deal with this. I’m just doing my job here and I saw the importance of reviving this swimming pool especially for our children.  Look at how excited they are and I can’t wait  to see when this swimming pool is in full operation,” he said.
