VANDERBBIJLPARK – Alfred was a member of Democratic Alliance (DA) caucus in Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM).

Following her passing, different organizations including her political home, DA and her serving municipality ELM, issued statements of condolences to the family and friend of Alfred.

Alfred was known for her zest for life, humbleness and her passion for serving her community.

In a statement, DA caucus member and head of communications Tumelo Mashigo said “it is with profound sadness that we announce the death of councilor Lilac Alfred who passed away in the morning of 22/10/2022. Lilac has not been well in the past few months and has been and out of hospital”.

Mashigo said Lilac was well known by her colleagues, family and friends for the love she had for God.

“The DA will remember her passion in one thing, to build a better SA for all,” he said.

In a twist, Emfuleni Speaker, Sibongile Soxuza also issued a statement.

“Lilac was an active member of the Democratic Alliance Caucus in Emfuleni. Always willing to help, Lilac was known for her drive to build a better Emfuleni for all. Her good example and service to the Council have been greatly admired and will be sadly missed,” said Soxuza through her statement.

Soxuza said Alfred was very dependable and had a respectful character.

“On behalf of ELM and the people of Emfuleni, we want to offer our heartfelt condolences to Alfred’s family and friends. They should be so proud of Lilac, who was liked and respected by her fellow Councilors across all political parties for her thoughtful, and respectful character.

In our eyes, her life was fulfilled and will be long remembered by her dedication to God, and service to her ward. We are all well-off for knowing her. May she rest in peace, gone but certainly not forgotten,” said the Speaker.
