Mzion Mofokeng Top 16 Memorial Games
The legacy of former Orlando Pirates No 1 supporter, Johannes "Mzion" Mofokeng is set to live on with the Mzion Memorial Games which are scheduled to take place at the Zone 11 Stadium, Sebokeng in his memory.

SEBOKENG.- The tournament will see 16 local teams battling it out on Saturday and Sunday with the aim being to honour this Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana No 1 Supporter for his passion for football.
This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Themba “Thoto” Zwelibanzi who is one of the organisers of these memorial games. Mofokeng was one of the most passionate and colourful soccer fans in South Africa before passing away in 2011. He was a loyal supporter of Orlando Pirates and football par excellence. He was also a prominent figure in the community as he was involved in politics and was well known for travelling the world with either Orlando Pirates or Bafana Bafana together with his rival supporter from Kaizer Chiefs, Sadaam Maake.

Mofokeng was part of Bafana Bafana supporters who went to FIFA World Cup in France in 1998 and he will go down as the most celebrated soccer supporter in South African football. He was also the Orlando Pirates Regional Supporters Branch Organiser, and also the Sebokeng Greater Supporters Branch leader. Apart from being a supporter, Mofokeng was at one time Kora Greats FC’s Chairman. Mofokeng was well known for organising one of the biggest tournaments in Vaal known as Rautenbach Soccer Tournament that was held at Zone 13 dusty soccer grounds every year. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Zwelibanzi said the game is in honour of Mofokeng for his contribution in South African football as a supporter and club chairman.
“We felt that is important to honour people like Ntate Mzion Mofokeng for their contribution in our football. When I grew up, I used to see him on tv especially when Orlando Pirates was playing. We want to continue with his legacy because he was passionate about football and not only for Orlando Pirates but also for the development of football in our community. The tournament he hosted every year was part of the development in Zone 13 community,” he told
