SEDIBENG.- Broos was talking ahead of this much anticipated Carling Black Label which took place at FNB Stadium over the weekend.

The Bafana Bafana mentor is well known for shooting from his hip to make his feelings known and what he thinks about South African football. Speaking at a press conference, Broos questioned the timing of Carling Black Label Cup ahead of Bafana Bafana two international friendly matches against Mozambique and Angola. The one day soccer spectacular saw Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Amazulu competing for this trophy on Saturday. Brooks said he would understand if this one day tournament was played as part of pre-season and not during the season especially ahead of Bafana Bafana international friendly matches.

“I would understand if they played two weeks before the season started. They will be happy because it is all about money. But I don’t think there will be players and coaches who will be happy playing this tournament,” he said.

This is not the first time Broos criticized South African football especially DStv Premiership players. For example, at one stage, Broos claimed there was no quality in PSL and no South African player who command a regular place in the top European leagues.

However, this didn’t sit well with some of the PSL coaches with Steve Khompela been one of them not happy with Broos’ utterances.
