Vaal River Carnival returns to Emfuleni after a three-year gap
“The Vaal region is home to a diverse range of cultures, including African, European, and Asian. This diversity is reflected in the festival's many events and activities, which showcase the region's unique heritage,” said Radebe during the launch.
VANDERBIJLPARK – After a three-year gap, the Vaal River Carnival (VRC) is set to make a glorious return, promising a month-long extravaganza of arts, culture, and entertainment.
The grand relaunch of the VRC was revealed during a press conference led by the Emfuleni Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Sipho Radebe, and the Acting Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Sports, Recreation, Arts, Culture, and Information Services, Elias Mokoena at Emerald on Wednesday, August 30.
According to Radebe, the annual extravaganza promises to capture the multifaceted essence of Sedibeng through a wall-hanging of arts, music, and cultural festivities.
Under the overarching theme of “Celebrating Diversity, Embracing Unity,” the VRC is set to transcend the boundaries of imagination, weaving together a series of events that will not only spotlight the cultural wealth of the region but also provide an immersive platform for the talented individuals who call Sedibeng their home.
Speaking at the launch in a room packed with artists, members of the media and business owners in the region, Radebe said the festival is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the rich history and culture of the Vaal region.
“The Vaal region is home to a diverse range of cultures, including African, European, and Asian. This diversity is reflected in the festival’s many events and activities, which showcase the region’s unique heritage,” he said.
“As part of our heritage, we are here to give a new breath of life to our pride as the Vaal. We have always been known as the heart of entertainment during the summer season. This is an incumbent natural gift and asset because we are surrounded by the most attractive nature preserves that are anchored by the Vaal Rivers and all the mountains that engulf the national freeways that open the Vaal for all to see,” he added.
