VEREENIGING. – In a recent event held at the SAPS district offices in Vereeniging, District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba led the promotion of approximately 22 police officers to various ranks.
The ranks include lieutenant, lieutenant colonel, captains, and level 7 public servant personnel.
Lemba reports: “We are using the promotion policy of the SAPS. We are considering the courses, years of experience, and conducting interviews to assess competence in the core functions of the positions for which members have applied.”
During her address on the day, Lemba urged the officers to make a difference.
“Let’s go out there and make a difference. We need to serve our communities effectively. We must continue studying and familiarise ourselves with policies to positively impact the lives of the people we serve and not disappoint the panel that promoted us.
“It is crucial for them to continue their service. For junior members, it’s vital for them to become subject matter experts, to study policies relevant to their duties, and, furthermore, excel in the sphere where they are assigned,” She said.
Lemba emphasises that the SAPS is committed to empowering its members.
“Human resources are our most valuable asset, and we aim to enhance their capabilities in any area where they are stationed,” Lemba adds.
