Tau fulfils ‘the dream’

These awards aim to honour and celebrate young founders who contribute to the development of the African continent.

SHARPEVILLE. – Mpho Tau, a local modeling coach and the founder of Royal Talent Academy (RTA), achieved second place at the Founder of the Year Awards Africa (FOYA Southern Africa), held at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg on February 10.

Among fifteen nominees from various Southern African countries, Tau stood out in his category, Entertainment Founder of the Year Under 30.

These awards aim to honour and celebrate young founders who contribute to the development of the African continent by creating sustainable job opportunities through entrepreneurship and inspiring others to start their businesses.

Originally launched in Kenya four years ago, the FOYA awards have since expanded to Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. In 2021, they further expanded to Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, marking a significant milestone. RTA, established by Tau as a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), focuses on nurturing the talent of youth in the local community and providing guidance to those interested in various activities, particularly those previously unexplored or unrecognised by young people.

Since 2022, RTA has been organising Miss Sharpeville and Miss Royal Talent Academy pageants, as well as conducting modeling classes, to offer youth opportunities to learn and showcase their talents. Additionally, they have been managing models and endeavouring to introduce them to the broader modeling industry.

Reflecting on his achievement as a runner-up, Tau expressed pride and gratitude, stating: “I am very proud of this achievement as it represents recognition and acknowledges the hard work that we do in South Africa. My goal of putting Vaal on the map has been realised.”
