Phaphama does it for local unemployed youth

These young individuals were awarded certificates in grades E, D, and C, with all associated expenses.

SEDIBENG. – More than seventy young people recently received their Security Officer certificates through a collaborative project between the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and Wenzile Phaphama Security in Evaton.

The initiative was spearheaded by Daddy ‘Bronson’ Thinane Gauteng, Provincial Chairperson of the South African National Military Veterans Association (SANMVA), who recognised the dedication of youth-serving as voluntary patrollers within community projects.

These young individuals were awarded certificates in grades E, D, and C, with all associated expenses, including their certificates with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA), fully covered.
In 2022, a similar initiative saw seventy grade E, D, and C security certificates distributed to unemployed youth in the Sedibeng region, particularly around the Sharpeville area.

The commendable effort to empower young people by Thinane has garnered approval from ELM MMC of Public Safety, Ndade Mokoena. Currently, over 80% of the graduated security officers have secured employment with Wenzile and other security firms, including retail companies.

Recognising the positive impact of the program on youth livelihoods, the initiative is expanded to Sebokeng Evaton North. This is where an additional 80 security officers were trained.

The graduation ceremony was attended by ANC Sedibeng Chairperson, Thulani Kunene, who expressed gratitude to Wenzile Phaphama Security for their community-focused initiatives. A total of 150 security officers—comprising the initial seventy plus the additional eighty—have had all expenses covered for their training and registration by Wenzile Phahama Security, enabling them to serve as certified security officers in the Republic of South Africa.
