Vaal Marina SAPS host men’s awareness campaign

Most male victims of domestic violence do not report cases due to the stigma attached to males reporting their female partners.

SEDIBENG.- The Vaal Marina South African Police Service (SAPS) hosted a men’s awareness campaign on February 4 at Mamello Settlement to educate the community.

Vaal Marina SAPS together with the Agape Lerato community services hosted an awareness. The topics that were addressed included sexual violence, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), alcohol and drug abuse, and domestic violence.

Men were advised to call or visit SAPS and Agape Lerato community service for counseling and other services. Several people were reached and sexual violence, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and drug and alcohol abuse pamphlets were distributed.

Vaal Marina SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tshilidzi De Huis said that they have noticed that most male victims of domestic violence do not report cases due to the stigma attached to males reporting their female partners.
