ORANJEVILLE – A 44-year-old allegedly took two innocent children to a field where he raped them.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 13 April 2024 at about 11:30, the 37-year-old aunt noticed a change in her niece’s walking movement and then called her to check on her, she realised that she might have been raped.
Sgt Mahlomola Kareli said “The aunt’s investigation revealed that her niece was allegedly raped on Sunday, 07 April 2024, “Malume” uncle took the 10-year-old and her 9-year-old friend to the open field away from the houses, where he raped them and gave them money and threatened them not to tell anyone about the incident.”
“The aunt took both children to Oranjeville police station and they were taken to hospital for medical attention,” he said.
Kareli said a manhunt was launched and a 44-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found at his house in Metsimaholo.
“He will appear in the Oranjeville magistrate court soon for two counts of rape, investigation continues,” he said.
