SASOLBURG – Several members of the mayoral committee in the Metsimaholo Local Municipality visited several schools to celebrate academic excellence for the 2025 academic year.
On January 15, mayor Jack Malindi together with Free State MP Matsholo Mmolotsane and Ward 9 councillor Mosokodi Mqhwathi visited Cedar Secondary School.
This comes after the school achieved an outstanding 100% matric pass rate for the Class of 2024. This remarkable accomplishment highlights the dedication of both learners and educators in the Zamdela community.

The roadshow began at Thuto Ke Lesedi High School, another institution that secured a 100% matric pass rate.
Together with council whip, Fikile Mosokweni, the delegation congratulated and motivated pupils and staff as the new academic year commenced.
Despite the roadshow focused on high schools, the mayor and his entourage also visited Nelson Mandela Primary School, one of the best-performing primary schools in the municipality.
Flanked by the MMC of Human Settlement, Lehogang Makhefu, and the ward councillor Nkehloane, the mayor welcomed young learners back from their holidays.
“The visits underscored the municipality’s commitment to supporting education and inspiring learners to aim for excellence, ensuring a bright future for the community of Zamdela,” said Malindi.

Meanwhile, council Speaker, Lucas Fisher kicked off the Back to School Programme at JJ Kubheka Primary School in Refengkgotso, Deneysville.
Fisher was joined by key stakeholders including SAPS, the Community Police Forum, and the School Governing Body.
In his address, Fischer said, “We came together to empower our young learners for a successful academic year ahead.”
“To all our pupils and teachers, believe in yourselves and embrace the opportunities that learning brings. Education is the key to a brighter future, and we are here to support you every step of the way! Let’s make this school year the best one yet,” he said.
Welcoming the visit, headmaster Mantaoleng Wessie expressed her excitement about their presence and the positive impact it would have on pupils.
