Suspect behind bars over stolen car drama

An intelligence-driven operation saw a 25-year-old man landing in police custody after being caught driving a suspected stolen vehicle.

SASOLBURG – A prompt response from members of the Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon, around 14:15 in Kroonstad after he was caught driving a VW Polo said to be hijacked at the Vaal Truck Stop just outside Sasolburg.

According to Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, the suspect was arrested when he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for having the vehicle.

“The suspect was arrested, and the vehicle was confiscated. The suspect is expected to appear in the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.”
