VANDERBIJLPARK.- Perfect Academy maintained their lead at the top of the SAFA Sedibeng Regional Hollywood Bets League log.
This was after they beat Ben Ten FC in an exciting match at Cecil Oldridge Park on Saturday afternoon.
This encounter was part of a doubleheader with the local soccer fans packing the venue to witness this mouth-watering affair. The game started with a high tempo as Perfect Academy made their intention clear from the first whistle to take the game to their opponents. It was attack after attack with Ben Ten FC defending with their back against the wall for the better part of the first half.
It was a fast-flowing game of football with Academy forwards putting a lot of pressure on Ben Ten FC’s defenders.
Ben Ten FC had no answers on how to stop the firing Academy, especially in the middle of the park where they dominated the proceeding. It was just a matter of time before they broke the deadlock and it was a flood of goals with their veteran striker Rethabile ‘Magiya’ Soso scoring a hattrick.
The game went to half time break with Academy leading 3-1.
In the second half, Ben Ten made four changes but Academy continued where they left off in the first half with Boy Moloi putting a final nail in the coffin to win the game 4-1. Academy was not under any pressure at this stage as they passed the ball around with Ben Ten FC chasing their shadows. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the game, Sechaba Mofokeng said their focus is on their game against the league-defending champions Young Pirates FC at George Thabe Stadium on Saturday.
This will be a do-or-die affair.
“We are looking forward to Saturday’s game against Young Pirates at our home ground. We have a score to settle with Young Pirates FC in the field of play because of what transpired last season. I have no doubt it will be an exciting game because the two teams were fighting for the league title last season and eventually Pirates won it,” said Mofokeng.
