Metsimaholo unveils fleet worth millions

“Service delivery is the backbone of any thriving community, and without proper vehicles and equipment, municipalities struggle to respond effectively to emergencies and daily operational demands," said Alberts.

SASOLBURG – Metsimaholo Local Municipality has procured a brand-new fleet valued at more than R21m to enhance municipal operations and service delivery in Sasolburg, Deneysville, and Oranjeville.

According to the municipality, the muchneeded fleet, which includes tipper trucks and vans, was officially unveiled on March 31 at the Public Safety Office in Sasolburg.

Metsimaholo’s executive mayor Jack Malindi led the ceremony, accompanied by speaker Lucas Fisher, council whip Fikile Mosokweni, and two MMCs, Mosiuoa Poho and Mahadi Nkheloane, among other municipal officials.

The strategic investment aims to accelerate response times to critical municipal services, particularly in addressing water, sewer, and electricity complaints.

“With these additional resources, the municipality is determined to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and ensure that residents receive essential services without unnecessary interruptions,” said municipal spokesperson Gino Alberts.

“The acquisition of this fleet represents a commitment to modernising municipal operations and providing much-needed support to frontline workers tasked with maintaining infrastructure across the three towns.”

According to Alberts, the importance of an adequate municipal fleet cannot be overstated.

“Service delivery is the backbone of any thriving community, and without proper vehicles and equipment, municipalities struggle to respond effectively to emergencies and daily operational demands. The newly acquired tipper trucks will assist in road maintenance and waste management, while the vans will enable rapid deployment of technicians to repair water leaks, sewer blockages, and electrical faults.”

The municipality said the initiative will not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also contribute to economic development, as well maintained infrastructure attracts investment and improves overall living conditions.
