An Oranjeville woman is behind bars following a special police raid.

ORANJEVILLE – An intelligence-driven police operation has led to the arrest of a 28-year-old woman for allegedly dealing in dagga.

Members of the Fezile Dabi District TRIO Task Team acted on a tip-off regarding a female suspect reportedly selling dagga from a residence in the area.

The operation was executed on April 17, at around 07:00 in the morning.

Upon arrival at the identified house, officers searched and recovered dagga with an estimated street value of R18 000, along with an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be proceeds from the illicit trade.

The woman was immediately arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.

She is expected to appear before the Heilbron Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police spokesperson sergeant Josephine Rani confirmed the arrest and commended the swift response by authorities.

“The successful operation is a result of coordinated intelligence efforts. We continue to urge community members to work with law enforcement by reporting illegal activities in their areas.”
