Fezile Dabi fleet upgrade to boost service delivery

Few more vehicles were added to the Fezile Dabi District Municipality fleet in order to boost service delivery.

SASOLBURG – Fezile Dabi District Municipality has strengthened its fleet capacity with the addition of two newly procured light vehicles, bringing the total to five.

The new arrivals join the three previously received as the municipality continues to replace its aging fleet.

According to the municipality, the investment into a new fleet is money well spent, as it reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to delivering services timeously, efficiently, and with improved mobility.

Following the arrival of the new workhorses, the municipal leadership and officials inspected the vehicles to ensure they met required operational standards.

In a statement, the DA has saluted the municipality for procuring the new fleet to advance its service delivery objectives.

“This comes after five vehicles, a mix of long-base bakkies and sedans, were recently delivered to the municipality. The new fleet will support different departments with messenger services and support the political offices in their planned programmes, aligned with the district municipality’s objectives, amongst others,” said DA Caucus Whip Stone Makhema.

Makhema added that during the previous year, the Fezile Dabi council approved the disposal of vehicles identified as aged and part of the municipality’s fleet, but no longer helpful for service delivery.

“These vehicles were negatively affected because they were in and out of workshops, resulting in significant repair costs. Some had also completed their five-year life service, necessitating their replacement,” he said.

“The report, including an audit of the fleet’s overall status, was unanimously supported by the Fezile Dabi council. These exercises will ensure timely, cost-effective action, thereby improving service delivery to our communities. It is for this foresight and proper planning that we celebrate this achievement with the district municipality,” he added.
