VANDERBIJLPARK – The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) congratulates Professor Veronique Labuschagne, an Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism and Integrated Communication within the Faculty of Human Sciences, on her election to the Board of the National Tertiary Retirement Fund (NTRF), where she will serve as a member-elected representative.
The NTRF plays a vital role in safeguarding employees’ retirement interests across the higher education sector.
As part of its governance structure, the Board is responsible for overseeing the fund’s strategic direction, financial sustainability, and the long-term security of members’ retirement benefits.
Prof Labuschagne’s election reflects the confidence placed in her by members of the fund and highlights the continued participation of VUT staff in national governance structures that support the well-being of the higher education community.
Commenting on her election, Prof Labuschagne expressed appreciation for the trust placed in her.
“I am honoured by the confidence shown by members of the Fund. I look forward to contributing to the responsible governance of the NTRF and to supporting decisions that safeguard the long-term interests of members and pensioners across the higher education sector,” she said.
