Police seek help to identify body found in veld

Police are appealing to the public to help identify the victim and shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Following a gruesome discovery of the body of an unknown man in a veld, police are now appealing for public assistance.
This comes after a man’s lifeless body with visible injuries was found in a pool of blood.

In a statement to Sedibeng Ster, Vanderbijlpark police spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu said the deceased, an African male, was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

“The deceased had bruises on his lower body, but his identity remains unknown.

At the time of his death, he was wearing a red-pink T-shirt, a brown-and-cream jersey, blue sweatpants, and blue tekkies,” said Sigcu.

Police are urging anyone who recognises the description or who has a missing relative matching it to come forward.

“Our investigators believe members of the public could hold the key to identifying the deceased and helping establish what led to his death. Anyone with information that could assist is urged to contact Sgt Motseko on 082 770 2606,” Sigcu said.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
