Sebokeng SAPS puts community service at the heart of policing

Beyond crime reporting, Sebokeng SAPS provides a broad network of essential services designed to keep residents supported.

SEBOKENG.- Set against the backdrop of the Sebokeng township, established in 1965, Sebokeng SAPS continues to reinforce its commitment to serving and protecting the community by delivering professional, accessible, and community-centred policing services to all residents.

The station is strategically located close to the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court, Sebokeng Hospital, Emergency Medical Services, Forensic Pathology Services, SASSA, the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Social Development, Emfuleni Local Municipality, and Clinix Private Hospital.
This location enhances the station’s accessibility.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane says that the officers of Sebokeng SAPS remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the public.

“The station has the Community Service Centre (CSC), a first point of contact between SAPS and the public, operating 24 hours a day. Another feature is the Victim Friendly Facility (VFF), providing a safe, private and supportive environment for victims of crime, particularly those affected by gender-based violence.”

The VFF operates 24 hours a day, and all victims are encouraged to report incidents without delay. Furthermore, the station offers liquor-related services, administering compliance through the Designated Liquor Officer (DLO) under the SAPS Firearms, Liquor and Second-Hand Goods (FLASH) environment.

Services include fingerprint clearance and police clearance. The Designated Firearms Officer (DFO) administers all firearm-related applications and compliance matters. Other services include new firearm licence applications, competency certificate applications, further competency applications, renewal of competency certificates and renewal of firearm licence cards. The Firearms Office is located in Room 44 of the Detective Building.

The Accident Reports Office manages motor vehicle accident documentation and provides copies of Accident Report (AR) forms to authorised persons, insurers and legal representatives.

The Detective Branch investigates reported crimes, gathers and analyses evidence, interviews victims, witnesses and suspects, and prepares criminal cases for prosecution. Detectives operate during office hours but remain available whenever operational demands are required.

Mokhachane says the effective detective component provides continuous investigative support by working closely with operational shifts.

“The station’s holding cells provide secure temporary detention for arrested persons awaiting their first court appearance. SAPS remains committed to safeguarding the constitutional rights of detainees. Visiting hours for detainees are at 14:00 daily. For security reasons, outside food is not permitted,” Mokhachane adds.

The station operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can be contacted on 016 466 2047 or on 082 498 9563. For emergencies, members of the public can contact 112, 10111 or 08600 10111. Community members may also report incidents through the MySAPS App.
