Meyerton SAPS wins station of the year

The awards were held at the Lapeng Hotel, Conference & Events Centre on September 4.

The Meyerton SAPS, under the leadership of Station Commander Colonel Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale, prevailed at the recent Sedibeng District Excellence Awards.

The awards for the 2025/2026 financial year were held at the Lapeng Hotel, Conference & Events Centre on September 4. During the ceremony, the station was named the Station of the Year, placing it at the forefront of all 14 stations in the district.

Speaking about the achievement, Mohale said the award recognises outstanding overall performance, exceptional service delivery, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.

“The award highlights leadership, teamwork, professionalism and dedication to crime prevention and community safety. It exemplifies the highest standards of policing within the Sedibeng District.
Another accolade the station received at the ceremony was Detective of the Year, in recognition of outstanding investigative excellence, dedication, and commitment to ensuring justice is served to community members.”

“Their professionalism, diligence and unwavering pursuit of truth have contributed significantly to effective crime detection, successful investigation and safer communities within the Sedibeng District,” Mohale states.

Police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Zazini says the achievement is proof that fostering positive partnerships is important to the Meyerton SAPS.

“When we work together with other safety structures such as private security companies, a lot can be achieved. These companies were awarded for their dedication, vigilance, and outstanding service in maintaining safety and security during the Anti-illegal immigration National Shutdown from June 28 to July 3. Their alertness and professionalism set a high standard for Sedibeng District.”

The station has once again reiterated its commitment to combating and preventing crime, and to building a safer Meyerton policing precinct.
