SEDIBENG.- Fourteen-year-old rugby star Junior Mokoena from Gimnasium Hoërskool in Vereeniging has been selected for the Valke Youth Rugby Association U14 tour.

The upcoming Inter-Provincial Rugby Tournament will take place at Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, from September 28 to October 3.

Mokoena fell in love with rugby during his primary school days, drawing inspiration from his schoolmates who first sparked his interest in joining the school team.

This is a lifetime opportunity for me, and I can’t wait to be part of this tour.

Expressing his excitement, Mokoena said that he could hardly believe the news of his selection

“I really enjoy every moment of playing this sport. This is the first time something like this has happened, and I’m so excited.”

He thanked his coaches for pushing him hard during training.

“This is a lifetime opportunity for me, and I can’t wait to be part of this tour. I believe this is the beginning of the big things to happen with my rugby career,” said Mokoena.

However, Mokoena and the other selected players must each raise R10 000 to participate in the tour. A 50% deposit of R5 000 was required by September 5, with the remaining balance due by September 25.
