Midvaal council pledge to fight gender-based violence

To kick off the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Midvaal Local Municipality councillors signed a pledge to work to end GBV.

MIDVAAL. -The councillors pledged not to use violence of any form in their relationships and to speak up against disrespect and abuse towards women, children, and any other persons considered part of vulnerable groups.

The councillors committed to being allies in ending all forms of gender-based violence.

The commitment is a deliberate step made by the leaders in their communities to be positive role models, mentors and to build a safer future for women, children and the vulnerable in our society.

As a municipality, we are committed to contributing positively towards ending gender-based violence.

The municipality’s Community Services department has hardworking Social Workers who are well-trained to assist and support victims of GBV.

The municipality will host an awareness campaign event on Friday, 2 December 2022 as part of our efforts to highlight support programmes and avenues available for victims of GBV.
