ANC councilors block access to municipal offices

VANDERBIJLPARK. - "The ANC councilors in the Emfuleni local municipality blocking the civic center with their cars is unacceptable," says councilor Hein van der Lith of the FF Plus.

These councilors did so at the insistence of speaking to the mayor, Sipho Radebe, about service delivery problems, corruption, incompetent officials and unspent allocations.

“These ANC council members, like the other council members of political parties, regularly have the opportunity to express their questions about matters during council meetings and bring them to the mayor’s attention.

“To now block the municipal offices and insist on answers indicates internal battles in the ANC,” says rdl. Van der Lith.

He claims that the FF Plus is in daily conversation with the acting municipal management, Mr. April Ntuli, as well as with the mayor to point out and solve service delivery problems.

Thus the party was part of the team that pointed out the Vaal River’s sewage pollution to the human rights commission (HRC) and pointed out in detail the municipality’s incompetence to replace outdated infrastructure and carry out maintenance work.

“The FF Plus also often solves service delivery problems by exerting pressure on the municipality without blocking municipal offices.

“It is time that the ANC councilors follow the FF Plus’ example and contribute in a constructive way to service delivery to the residents of Emfuleni,” he concludes.
