Eight CIT suspects killed in shootout with police in Sebokeng
The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Mthombeni, is currently at the scene.
Following a shoutout with the police, eight suspected cash-in-transit robbers have been killed.
The shootout happened at a residence in Sebokeng.
In a statement on Thursday ER24 said its paramedics and other services arrived at the home at 06h40 to find numerous local authorities in attendance.
“Upon closer inspection, medics found several men lying around or inside the home. On assessment, medics found that eight men had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.”
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said at least four other robbers were injured during the shootout.
“These suspects are believed to be behind a spate of cash in transit heists in Gauteng and surrounding areas,” Mathe said.
