Fire at River Square Mall swiftly extinguished

River Square confirmed that no injuries occurred as a result of a fire in a tenant premises at River Square on Monday.

VEREENIGING. – A fire broke out at the River Square shopping center on Monday afternoon, October 30.

Shop owners and customers were evacuated.

In a statement River Square said: “We can confirm that no one was injured as a result of the fire that broke out at River Square on 30 October 2023. The centre’s management, security staff, community forums and the local fire brigade acted quickly and the center was successfully evacuated.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, but a thorough investigation is being carried out,” said Marinda Smook, marketing manager for the shopping centre.

According to Smook, River Square received approval from the department that they may trade again on Tuesday 31 October 2023.
