Man rescued from Klip River at Henley-on-Klip breakwater

The Midvaal fire brigade saved the life of a middle-aged man on Monday afternoon after he ended up in the water at the Kidson weir at Henley-on-Klip.

The man from Sicelo in Meyerton was apparently trying to cross the Klip River on the weir when he was swept away by a strong current.

He was washed about 50 meters downstream until he came to a standstill against a tree stump.

The Midvaal fire brigade helped the man out of the river after 18:00.

The Midvaal fire brigade appealed to the public to avoid rivers during the rainy season due to currents and unpredictable conditions.
