Duku Duku 3rd Annual Super 16 Tournament

They are looking forward to another exciting off-season tournament with the local soccer fans to be entertained.

BOPHELONG.- All roads will lead to France ground Ext 15 in Movhango for the 3rd Annual Duku Duku Super 16 Cup Tournament.

This off-the-season annual soccer tournament is set to kick off on June 15 -22.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Molefi Mahlangu who is the tournament organiser said this year’s tournament will be exciting with teams eyeing R20 000 prize money, soccer kit, and medals.  The runner-up will receive R5000 and medals.

There will be also individual prizes for Player Of The Tournament and Goalkeeper Of The Tournament at the end of the tournament. Mahlangu said the draw for the tournament will be conducted on June 12 after all the participating teams have been confirmed.

Mahlangu said they are looking forward to another exciting off-season tournament with the local soccer fans to be entertained. This Super 16 Cup takes place during the PSL’s off-season with the PSL season coming to an end this coming weekend.

“All the teams are invited to come and be part of this best soccer tournament in Bophelong. The tournament is part of bringing back football in the area because in the past Bophelong had great soccer teams like Early Birds FC among others teams. Bophelong also produced great players and football administrators such Dr Molefi Oliphant among others. We are looking forward to exciting football to be displayed throughout the tournament,” said Mahlangu who is a former soccer player himself.

Some of the notable names that came from Bophelong include former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Papi Zothwane. Meanwhile, 14 Stars FC is the defending champions of the Super 16 Cup Soccer Tournament.
