Kidnapping and murder in Sebokeng

The homeowner informed police that the deceased was her tenant.

SEBOKENG.- The community is still shocked following the kidnapping and murder case that took place on Monday, December 23.

According to Evaton police spokesperson Constable Thulisile Msibi, officers received a call around 09:00 from the provincial office instructing them to investigate suspicious activity at a house in Zone 6, Extension 1, where a cellphone used to demand ransom had been traced.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the homeowner, who reported hearing noises coming from the back room. When she went to investigate, she found her tenants in an argument with a Pakistani man who had been held captive in the room. The homeowner allegedly intervened to stop the fight before notifying authorities.

Police proceeded to the back room, where they discovered a man lying unresponsive on the floor and the Pakistani with visible facial injuries. Emergency medical services (EMS) were called to the scene, where the man on the floor was declared dead.

The homeowner informed police that the deceased was her tenant, while the injured man was allegedly the kidnapped victim.

“At this stage, it remains unclear how the deceased man was killed. No arrests have been made, and a case of murder has been opened at Evaton Police Station for further investigation,” said Msibi.
