The arts taking a stand in line with tourism towards Vaal River Mega City

At the market only homemade, homebrew and handmade goods and foods will be sold.

SEDIBENG.- The Vaal Arts Market will be in full swing at the Diniso Arts Complex in Bedworthpark every Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 to 18:00.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Diniso Arts Complex’s Iga-Makhulu Diniso said the Arts does not cut the year (ho kgaola selemo), but ties the year (ho tlama selemo).

“2025 is the year of the arts working together to attract local and global tourism to the Vaal.  With this prestige business and tourism venture, the aim is to make people know the Vaal through visual art, creative craft, and stage shows,” Diniso said.

Diniso Arts Complex is strategically situated next to Sharpeville and Boipatong, which are townships with socio-political history.

“The Arts must take centre stage in the business approach and artists should be in charge of this sector. Artists must work together towards presenting good shows and artworks to the audiences, then art will prosper in the Vaal.  The money of the artists is in the pockets, wallets, and purses of the people when art is made available regularly. The arts and tourism are big business.”

The Vaal Arts Market is under Vaal Artists Consortium (VACO) which is the initiative by Gilbert Maepa, Mohau Kutoane, Iva-Nyaniso Diniso, Nkosinathi Malindi and Iga-Makhulu Diniso. VACO’s main aim is to bring artists to work together and share the pallet to be alive.

The Arts Market will focus on unifying Varsity artists and Kasi artists, and at the market only homemade, homebrew and handmade goods and foods will be sold.

Crafters interested in displaying their products can contact Kutoane on 073 182 9778.

Visual artists who want to exhibit their artworks can contact Maepa on 079 047 0989 and for stage shows and instrumentalist musicians contact Diniso on 062 454 5315 or 084 282 9160, or visit Diniso Arts Complex in Bedworthpark, all the numbers are WhatsApp accessible.
