World TB Day commemorated

“TB can be cured as long as medication is adhered to for six months, minimising drug resistance requires finishing the course.”

SEDIBENG. – Levai Mbatha CHC, in partnership with Emthonjeni, this week hosted a campaign to commemorate World Tuberculosis (TB) Day.

The event was supported by a multidisciplinary team of experts such as Optometrists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Clinicians, and Health Promoters. The primary objective was to educate patients and the broader community about TB, which included its effects, prevention strategies, and treatment options.

Meanwhile, a health education and TB testing also took place at a ‘TB dialogue with Men’ event held at the Boipatong Monument this week.  Gauteng Health Department delegates and local men engaged on issues affecting the rise of TB in Sedibeng and steps that can be taken to fight the disease.

The message was clear: “TB can be cured as long as medication is adhered to for six months, minimising drug resistance requires finishing the course.”
