MEC holds IGR with SDM

The meeting was aimed at enhancing intergovernmental relations focusing on strategy, policy implementation and service delivery.

SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng Human Settlements MEC, Tasneem Motara recently hosted a Political Intergovernmental relations (IGR) bilateral session with the representatives from different municipalities in the province, including the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) in Johannesburg recently.

Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC), Mmadisebo Khomoeasera, represented the SDM.

The Human Settlements Department said that the meeting was aimed at enhancing intergovernmental relations focusing on strategy, policy implementation and service delivery.

“In the session, deliberations included discussions on the implementation and progress on hostel development, urban renewal, upgrading of informal settlements, beneficiary administration, housing allocations, issuance of title deeds and the Rapid Land Release Programme.”

Motara said that overall, on-going bilateral engagements between the department and municipalities are crucial in reducing barriers affecting service delivery, to foster cooperation and to strengthen relations.
