NPOs urged to appeal funding rejection

Advocate Anton Alberts (FF Plus MP: Gauteng) has encouraged non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Gauteng whose funding for the 2025/26 cycle has been rejected to apply for an appeal.

Applications must be sent to the Gauteng Department of Social Development within seven working days of receipt of the rejection notice.

Advocate Anton Alberts (FF Plus MP: Gauteng) has encouraged non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Gauteng whose funding for the 2025/26 cycle has been rejected to apply for an appeal.

“We respect every NPO that helps to care for and uplift vulnerable people and therefore urgently encourage them to participate in the appeal process for reconsideration of applications,” says Alberts.

He argues that the appeal application is important because additional information can be sent to the department to support the reconsideration.

The application must be sent to the Deputy Director-General: Social Services, Onkemetse at Kabasia@gauteng.gov.za, the Appeal Committee Secretariat at Thembeka.Mkhwanazi@gauteng.gov.za, and the Acting Director: Partnership and Financing at Lerato.Bob@gauteng.gov.za.

“Depending on the nature of the appeal, the committee may request written, virtual, or physical interviews to discuss the review.

“Following the meeting, the outcome can be expected within five working days,” explains Alberts.

“Organisations that were unaware of the deadline must still submit their applications. The FF Plus will then assist with the submission of the documents,” concludes Alberts.
