No one has the ‘balls’ to put a stop to this…so who is to be blamed then?

The important thing about football is that, it is not just about football.

SEDIBENG.- When Zakes’ Sports Corner wrote about the so-called kasi football, little did I know that this is a serious concern to the SAFA Sedibeng League club owners.

It was confirmed by one of the club owners that his team is facing a possible relegation because of kasi football. He sympathised with Zakes’ Sports Corner that Vaal football is going to the dogs.

He told Zakes’ Sports Corner that this is the problem all teams face, especially those that play under the SAFA structure.

This is really sad to say the least!

Like Zakes’ Sports Corner always asks, “How did we get here?”

Who is to be blamed for the situation that we find ourselves in? The tournament organisers or the players?

The important thing about football is that, it is not just about football.

For those youngsters who take football for granted, this sport can take you and your family out of poverty. Unfortunately, there is no respect for this sport in this region. It is everyone for themself and to HELL with everyone else.

The biggest challenge for football people in this region is that they don’t want to win together, stay together, and grow together. To make matters worse, SAFA Sedibeng’s deputy president Velaphi Motsepe also raised a concern about players who skip league matches for kasi football. Motsepe said this can be caused by a number of things. For example, he said the prize money for the league at the end of the season might be a big concern for some clubs and players, hence they opted for the so-called kasi football thing.

As if this is not enough, he said there must be a way for SAFA Sedibeng and LFAs to bring those clubs and players to the books who choose to play kasi football instead of the official games. He said they must be brought before the Regional Disciplinary Committee. Motsepe said this will discourage teams and players from skipping league matches to go and play kasi football.

Zakes’ Sports Corner, the self-appointed Minister of Sports in Sedibeng, has been raising this concern for the past ten years. There is no respect for structure or organised football in Vaal. The problem is that everyone is aware of what is destroying Vaal football, but no one has the guts or balls to put a stop to this nonsense!
