Young Tyatya encourages youth to bring change
"We’ve eliminated bullying, initiation, and school gangs, creating a safe and supportive environment where learners can thrive.”
SEBOKENG. – Like the youth of 1976, Nqobile Tyatya, is proud to be part of a remarkable journey that has changed the fabric of his school.
This Grade 11 President of Thandukwazi Secondary School’s Learner Representative Committee (LRC), is proud to have made a change at the school since his election. Tyatya said that when he took office, he wanted to make a difference, and that is when he started to shift the energy of the school to a more positive vibe.
“One of my favourite initiatives was visiting Grade 8 classes to encourage young leaders and instill in them the importance of education. My message was simple: It’s not cool to be a loser.”

As the president, he said, he has worked tirelessly to change the spirit amongst other learners, promoting a culture of innovation, talent, and skill building.
“I’ve won numerous challenges and overcome obstacles, and I’m proud to say that our school has become a better place for everyone. We’ve eliminated bullying, initiation, and school gangs, creating a safe and supportive environment where learners can thrive,” Tyatya told Sedibeng Ster.
To future learners and Grade Sevens considering joining this school, Tyatya said that they need to come and be part of a vibrant community that values education and personal growth.
“Thandukwazi Secondary School is a safe space where you can develop your skills, build your confidence, and achieve your dreams. Here we are focusing on educational excellence and student empowerment,” he said.
“As I look to the future, I’m excited to see our school continue to ascend to new heights. With its strong foundation, talented learners, and dedicated staff, I’m confident that Thandukwazi Secondary School will remain a beacon of excellence in our community.”
