Sebokeng SAPS serving soup and spreading hope

“The soup drive is not funded or sponsored, but self-funded as it is aimed at encouraging other community members to give back to their respective neighbourhoods.”

SEBOKENG. – The Sebokeng Police, alongside Indibano, gender-based violence (GBV) brigades, and Thetha FM’s morning breakfast show, hosted their second annual GBV soup drive at the Boiketlong Grounds this week.

The first soup drive was held in Azania.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that the events were aimed at giving back to the community and raising awareness about GBV and substance abuse. The police also aimed to interact with the community by serving soup to the children and community members at large.

This initiative was launched in June last year.

“The soup drive is not funded or sponsored, but self-funded as it is aimed at encouraging other community members to give back to their respective neighbourhoods.”

Community members were advised to report any form of GBV and other crimes affecting them either at Sebokeng SAPS or directly to the station commander. Brigadier Thembekile Kubone extended her gratitude to all participants who made the GBV soup drive possible. She further extended her sincere gratitude to community members for their warm welcome.
